Our Mission

The mission of the universal church is given in Matthew 28:19-20, and can be broken down into three statements:

To make disciples of all nations

To baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

To teach them to observe all that Jesus commanded


Our Mission: To create stimulating opportunities for people to think about and live life from a gospel perspective.

Veritas is Latin for truth

Veritas is Latin for truth. We are a church that believes in truth. We believe it is objective and can be known, and that what you believe about truth really matters for your life. Being a church that believes in truth means at least two things:


First, it means that truth is found in knowing and following Jesus. 

In John 18, Jesus is having a conversation with Pilate about why the Jewish leaders want to crucify him. Pilate asks Jesus whether he is a king, and then Jesus responds, "You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world - to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice."


Second, it means is that truth is discovered most responsibly in community, and not in isolation.

We need other people in our lives to encourage us, correct us, and struggle with us as we wrestle with life's hardest questions. Proverbs 27:17 says that iron sharpens iron, and so we ought to sharpen one another in our beliefs and in our character.


The Historic Apostles Creed

We believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

We believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; on the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead.

We believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.


*catholic means "universal" and is not a reference to the Roman Catholic Church.
